Airport and Air Travel Security

On 31 March 2007, the Australian Government enhanced their Airport and Air Travel
security regluations. Passengers on international flights to and from Australia will
only be allowed to carry a small amount of liquids, (including aerosols and gels)

Airport Transfers

Airtrain

Fly through Brisbane's traffic with Airtrain. Airtrain is the fastest, cheapest and most reliable way to get from Brisbane airport to the centre of Brisbane. Airtrain services run every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes outside of these hours—the express air-conditioned journey takes only 20 minutes. The airport stations are located directly outside the domestic and international terminals and connect with five Brisbane CBD stations covering the majority of downtown Brisbane. The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is located directly behind South Brisbane station. Train tickets are open for 2 hours, so delegates can disembark the train, check into a hotel then continue their journey to the convention centre all on one ticket.

Taxi

Coach/Bus

Car Rental

Major car rental companies have offices located at the Domestic and International terminals at Brisbane Airport. To drive in Australia you must have a current driver’s license.


Australian Customs and Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS)

Australian Customs and Border Security administer the Tourist Refund Scheme and the TRS enables you to claim a refund, subject to certain conditions, of the goods and services tax (GST) and wine equalisation tax (WET) that you pay on goods you buy in Australia.

To claim a refund you must:
• Spend $300 (GST inclusive) or more in the one store and get a single tax invoice
• Buy goods no more than 30 days before departure
• Wear or carry the goods on board the aircraft or ship and present them along with your original tax invoice, passport and international boarding pass to a Customs Officer at a TRS facility

Claims at airports are available up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure of your flight and claims at seaports should be made no earlier than 4 hours and no later than 1 hour prior to the scheduled departure time of the vessel.
